So, a couple of days into 2008, and what’s the outlook for the industry? Well, on the face of it - bleak. Or then possibly not so bleak.
On the one hand, the news seems to be that companies are generally expecting a lower volume of hiring, although this news is to be tempered […]

REC Accreditation - Is it worth it?
December 17th, 2007 · No Comments
In a word: no. Or at least it seems so.
According to their website, the REC’s aims include raising recruitment standards.
We face competition from CV spammers, rogue agents, dodgy dealers and various other industry cowboys. As a result of the behaviour of some of these groups, the reputation of the recruitment industry […]

Not everyone is using the internet in the job-seeking process
December 6th, 2007 · 1 Comment
We’re hearing the term “Generation Y” more and more here at Idealpeople Towers. This is pleasing, because we’ve got a lot to say about what we’re calling “Candidate 2.0″ - i.e. the new generation of job-seekers who have seemingly very different priorities and drivers than before.
There was an interesting piece on this in Recruiter […]

December 3rd, 2007 · No Comments

Diary of…..Idealpeople

This is one for any fellow Recruiters out there who flick through/read Recruiter magazine. We’ve grown a particular fondness for their “Diary of…” Section, normally on the inside back page.
This feature is written by a different Recruitment Consultant every month, and allows them to give a diarised version of their week in their job. […]

Join Idealpeople on Facebook

A while back, we said (and we quote) “Facebook is the current “you must be on there” site. Often touted as a tool for recruiters and for getting spotted, and rumours have recently linked it to a partnerhsip with a online jobsite. To be honest, we don’t get it. You can’t search on anything other […]

IT Recruitment and Google Hacking - A Candidate’s View
November 20th, 2007 · No Comments
A while back, as part of our CV tips, we suggested that a good strategy towards getting your CV “out there” was to publish it on-line so that it could be found by savvy Recruiters who use Google, but couldn’t be found by the plethora of recruiters who rely solely on the on-line CV databases.
Now, […]
