Recruitment & Selection Methods Part 2: The Future?

February 7th, 2008 · No Comments

In an unprecendented turn of events, we’ve decided that part one of Richard Stockill’s of Recruitment & Selection methods was so good that you’d probably not want to wait until tomorrow to get the second installment. So here you go…..
So far we have discussed the most common selection methods, and I hope that what […]

February 6th, 2008 · 1 Comment

So, 2008 is one month old already. It’s been non-stop here, and we hope you’ve all been enjoying the blog recently. Now that your blogmaster’s finished running around and educating the next stream of talent to come out of the local Universities, it’s time for some quiet reflection on the changing nature of […]

How one bad hire can cost you billions (literally)…

January 29th, 2008 · No Comments

We’ve talked before about the scary stuff that can happen if you employ a weak or flawed hiring strategy, and we’d be nuts not to suggest that bolting in third party support from a trusted, reputable talent broker is the best solution. But sometimes really crazy stuff supporting this case plays out in the real […]

Boomerangs: Do you consider re-hiring ex-employees?

January 18th, 2008 · 3 Comments

What’s a boomerang anyway? We’re not talking about a wooden artefact with Australian/Aboriginal/Indian roots which is used for sport, hunting, war or just for fun.
No, “Boomerang” means a ‘returnee’, a former employee, your ‘alumni’ – someone who used to work with you, and for whatever reason – now they don’t.
We’ve come across the […]

Tip II

January 16th, 2008 · No Comments

First Impressions Count - Are you putting potential hires off?

January 2nd, 2008 · No Comments

Firstly, Happy New Year to everyone from Idealpeople. We’re sorry that - unlike so many other Recruitment bloggers out there - we forgot to say Merry Christmas.
2008 should be an interesting year. There’s some uncertainty in the economic outlook and no-one seems particularly sure what (if any ) impact will be felt on […]

Candidate 2.0: Is your employer brand futureproof?

December 7th, 2007 · No Comments

Let me introduce you to Candidate 2.0.
Let’s call her Bridget.
Why she deserves the title of Candidate 2.0 is because she personifies the outlook and demands of the future jobseeker audience - that’ll be the people you will need to hire over the next 5 years. Probably. Maybe just try to hire, or expect […]

Not everyone is using the internet in the job-seeking process

December 6th, 2007 · 1 Comment

We’re hearing the term “Generation Y” more and more here at Idealpeople Towers. This is pleasing, because we’ve got a lot to say about what we’re calling “Candidate 2.0″ - i.e. the new generation of job-seekers who have seemingly very different priorities and drivers than before.
There was an interesting piece on this in Recruiter […]

December 3rd, 2007 · No Comments

Tip 2

November 30th, 2007 · No Comments

Although Idealpeople depend on having enough talent shortages around to give us enough recruiting problems to solve – we know that having a great recruitment strategy is about a multi-faceted approach.
So, from time to time, we don’t mind giving away nuggets of wisdom to the hiring universe as it makes us feel all warm […]
